General Course and Refund Policies
- If you have a Sierra Club membership that is active through Mar 31, 2026, you will receive information by the 3rd class on how to receive a $15 discount.
- If you cancel after registering, a cancellation fee of $100 will be deducted from your payment.
- A refund is only available when cancelling before the second class, except for medical reasons. When cancelling for medical reasons with doctor’s note, a refund is only available up to Jan 30, 2026; you must return all course materials (book, compass, etc) to receive the refund.
- You will not be able to sign up for Car Camp until you complete your day hike.
- You may participate in Wilderness Basics Course a maximum time of 2 times within a 5 year period.
- Snow camp will be 1 or 2 nights in the field; Mammoth is currently planned as an option, however if weather or other reasons prevent this, all snow camp trips will occur in SoCal mountains.
- In the event of a storm during snow camp, students may be required to share a tent for safety reasons.
- Please review the class schedule and make sure you can attend the main, alternate, or make-up dates; there are no other dates besides those listed in the schedule.
- There is no waitlist; after registration closes, the class is full.
