Wilderness Basics Course – 2026

Tickets will go on sale: November 17th, 2025 @ 9:00 AM PST.

Registration is limited to 150 students & there is no waitlist; after registration closes, the class is full.

Please be aware of the following:

• If you have a Sierra Club membership that is active through Mar 31, 2026, you will receive information by the 3rd class on how to receive a $15 discount.
• If you cancel after registering, a cancellation fee of $100 will be deducted from your payment
• A refund is only available when cancelling before the second class (except for medical reasons); you must return all course material (book, compass, etc) to receive the refund
• You will not be able to sign up for Car Camp until you complete your day hike
• You may participate in Wilderness Basics Course a maximum time of 2 times within a 5 year period
• Snow camp will be 1 or 2 nights in the field; Mammoth is currently planned as an option, however if weather or other reasons prevent this, all snow camp trips will occur in SoCal mountains
• In the event of a storm during snow camp, students may be required to share a tent for safety reasons
• Please review the class schedule and make sure you can attend the main or make-up dates; there are no other dates besides those listed in the schedule.
• There is no waitlist; after registration closes, the class is full.
